In order to sufficiently utilize the tuna resource, the R&D team of Ocean Family’s Ningbo Today Food Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Today Food), through the highly value-added processing of raw material and the comprehensive utilization of the scrap such as fish skin, gut, bone, thorn, and etc., lowers the production cost and increases the economic efficiency. At 2013, the company successfully declared “the deep processed tuna fish oil and the industrialization of active substances, such as hypoglycemic polypeptide, from marine organisms”, which is the achievement transformation and industrialization project of the demonstration of regional innovative development of marine economy of State Oceanic Administration, and won the subsidy from the national government. This project invites technology and management experts from Ningbo University, Zhejiang University of Technology and the School of Marine Science of Ningbo University to have the regular project management meetings and carry out the technical certification on product processes of fish oil and hypoglycemic polypeptide. So far, when half of the project time-schedule has been passed, the implementation of the project is organized in perfect order.

    Ocean Family’s Today Food is currently one of the biggest tuna processing bases and becomes the first demonstration base of the comprehensive utilization and highly value-adding of tuna in China.
