During the summer vocation of 2014, the “guard of the tongue” summer period social practice team from Zhejiang Pharmaceutical College visits Ocean Family’s Today Food Co., Ltd., to understand the food processing technics of the factory and to promote the food safety knowledge.
“Food is the first priority for human beings, and safety is the first priority for food industry”, concerning this summer period social practice, the company rolls out the event into two sessions as the theoretical learning session and the field visit session. During the theoretical learning session, first of all, the emphasis is the importance of food safety and severe custody, implementing in the ways which combine prevention first, risk management, monitoring through the whole chain and socially common governance; secondly, the introduction stresses the processes of quality control. The quality assurance starts from the beginning: tunas, since the moment when caught from the ocean, are processed under “the whole cold-chain”, ensuring the fish freshness on the whole processes from catching, processing, delivering, and the table. Moreover, the whole canning procedures are applying the high-temperature sterilization with the temperature from 180 to 200 Celsius, ensuring to reach the national standard without using any preservative; lastly, the explanation underlines the importance of the traceability within the whole chain of food products circulation.
The field visit session uses the way of introducing while visiting: deeply introduce how the company can comply with the safe production in different levels and secure quality management in different steps on multiple aspects such as the assurance of food nutrition, transportation methods, ways of storage and etc. Meanwhile, members of the social practice team have a high enthusiasm for learning and raise many questions in terms of professional technologies such as tuna sizing, cooking, cleaning of loins and etc. The event is completed in a perfect learning atmosphere.
