The explosion accident in Tianjin has passed 2 weeks already. However, the painful lesson is still vivid in our minds and sends the alarming of “fire safety” to the whole society. In order to strengthen employees’ awareness of work safety, improve skills of fire safety and fire rescue, and prevent the occurrence of safety accident on the sea, at August 28th, the company’s fishery management department organizes crews from 2 super-frozen tuna longline fishing vessels, New Century71 and New Century79, to carry out the mock exercise of on-the sea fire rescue.
First of all, technicians introduce the basic theory and usage of lifesaving signal, life raft, extinguisher, fire pump, and life jacket. Later on, the mock exercise rolls out. The contents of the mock exercise include: how to send out the lifesaving signal, how to use the life raft under the situation of emergency, how to select the right fire extinguisher according to the different dangerous cases, and how to start the fire pump and how to wear the life jacket in the right way. Leaders from Hangzhou Agriculture Bureau and Hangzhou Central Station of the supervision and management for fishery, fishing ports and fishing vessels also attend this on-site exercise, learning and exchanging the management experience of work safety.
Organizing the mock exercise of fire rescue enhances crews’ awareness of work safety, disseminates the necessary emergency knowledge and skills of production on the sea, improves crews’ capabilities for handling the emergency on the sea, and forges the foundation to effectively protect crews’ lives and properties. In the future, the company will use the opportunity of the return voyage of other company’s fishing vessels to roll out the similar mock exercise, keeping the preparedness of work safety all the time.
