At the beginning of the year, Ocean Family has the happy news! During the annual national science and technology award conference, our company wins the second prize of “2016 national science and technology progress award” issued by the state council. This is the only national reward within the ocean fishery industry at 2016, showing the highest evaluation and recognition for the technology breakthrough in the industry from the national level, and demonstrating Ocean Family’s technological capacity to the whole country.

 The project which wins this second prize of the award of national science and technology progress is “key technologies and relevant industrialization of quality-fidelity and deep-processing of tuna”. The project is led by Zhejiang Ocean University, and Ocean Family actively participates in this project, tackling the problems from bottlenecks of the tuna processing industry. Under the regulations of national science and technology award, after processes such as recommendation, screening, auditing, and etc., the project successfully wins the approval. Meanwhile, Mr. Zhengbin, the responsible person for this project, on behalf of the project team, accepts the kind interview from Mr. Xijinping and other national party and state leaders and has the group photo with them.

 As the national strategy, ocean fishery is the new growth pole of the development of Chinese marine economy. Tuna, being the top position in terms of catch volume of global ocean fishery, is called as “soft gold”, occupying 10% of global trading volume of aquatic products, and is one of the best resources of natural protein for human beings. In the past, the development of Chinese tuna industry was blocked by bottlenecks such as high difficulties for freshness preservation, low level of deep-processing and etc. and relevant short industry chain. The home and abroad markets of high-end fresh tunas and deep-processing products have been controlled by foreign companies.

 Aiming to turn around the passive situation of Chinese tuna processing industry, Zhejiang Ocean University, allying with science research institutes and aquatic processing enterprises such as Zhejiang Marine Development Research Institute, Zhejiang Ocean Family Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Xingye Group Co., Ltd., Hailisheng Co., Ltd., and etc., tackles bottlenecks of the industry, breaks core technologies such as full-chain freshness preservation of sashimi tuna, fine-processing of cooked tuna, high value-added utilization of byproducts, and etc., builds up the technical system of quality-fidelity and deep-processing of tuna, extends the upstream and downstream chain of the industry, provides systematic theories, measures, and technologies support for the sustainable development of tuna processing industry.

 While the promotion of the results of this project, the industry scale of “one tuna” will be bigger and bigger, forging the tuna processing industry cluster with the fully-constructed industry chain, and greatly increasing the share of the global market.

 Growing to be bigger and stronger, the tuna processing industry drives the implementation of strategic development targets of the country’s ocean fishery, supports and strengthens a group leading processing enterprises of aquatic products, grasps the new strategic growth pole for the upgrade of our country’s processing industry of aquatic products, ensures the supply of good quality protein, and effectively improves the nutrition situation and health standard for human beings.
